Seminar

“Ground Characterization While Drilling Roofbolts in Tunneling Operations”

The focus of the presentation is the estimation of the rock strengths in tunnels, evaluating rock mass conditions while drilling, producing a hazardmap, 3D data visualization and also evaluating the suitability of the applied support techniques. Characterization of the ground surrounding the tunnel is the key to improve the safety of tunnel sand underground spaces during the construction. While the most common form of rock support at the present is bolting, obtaining information about the ground from the roof bolt drilling could be a logical step.
