Director of the School of Civil Aviation, Prof. Nafiz Alemdaroğlu to be granted “Von Karman Medal” Award

Director of the School of Civil Aviation, Nafiz Alemdaroğlu was deemed worthy of “Von Karman Medal” known to be the most prestigious science and service award of Science and Technology Organization of NATO. Selected among candidates of all NATO member countries, Prof. Hüseyin Nafiz Alemdaroğlu will become the first and only Turkish researcher having the prestigious award which will be granted in “NATO STB Fall 2018 Meeting” in Edinburg, United Kingdom.

Prof. Alemdaroğlu is also Chairperson of Scientific Advisory Committee of Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics based in Brussels.

Prof. Theodore Van Karman is a successful scientist known for his studies in aerodynamics and an important research institute in Brussels named after him.

Von Karman Medal is the most prestigious success and service award granted by NATO Science and Technology Organization each year. The Organization focuses on candidates’ both scientific studies and contributions to technological and scientific studies of NATO Science and Technology Organization. The award, for the first time, was given in the name of Prof. Theodore Von Karman, founder of Science and Technology Organization of NATO.
