Course Objectives Teaching students the techniques of pattern creating
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • 1) Specifies the design concept
  • 2) Associates the design with target group
  • 3) Creates new designs.
Course Content Classifying textile designs in terms of usage areas, design principles based on techniques, practising novel designs compatible with design techniques; starting with a single pattern, using such plastic materials as emptiness fullness, negative positive, direction contrast, light dark contrast; sketching natural objects.

Weekly Subjects and Releated Preparation Studies

1 Definition of textile design, its role and evolution through time, classification of textile design according to the usage area. The production process of a design and the insight of the concept of design, handing out the references. At the end of each course, students will be informed about the next topic and students will be provided with the necessary preparations.
2 Necessary fundamental principles to be abided by according to its usage area and techniques in textile. "
3 Two dimensioned design scale, the qualities of the sketch and designed product, its interaction with target group. "
