Eski firavunlar\u0131n ve aristokrasinin mezarlar\u0131n\u0131n oldu\u011fu Necropolis\u2019in [\u00d6l\u00fcler \u015eehri] ya\u015fayan insanlar\u0131n mek\u00e2n\u0131 olan \u015fehirden \u00e7ok daha geni\u015f yer kaplad\u0131\u011f\u0131 Djelibeybi Krall\u0131\u011f\u0131\u2019nda ge\u00e7mi\u015fin mutlak hakimiyetini g\u00f6r\u00fcr\u00fcz. Piramitler, krall\u0131\u011f\u0131n eski g\u00f6rkemli \u00e7a\u011flar\u0131n\u0131 anlatan freskler, b\u00fcy\u00fck h\u00fck\u00fcmdarlar\u0131n ve fatihlerin d\u00fc\u015fman ordular\u0131n\u0131 ayaklar alt\u0131nda ezen heykelleri, \u015fimdi yitip gitmi\u015f olan say\u0131s\u0131z soylu taraf\u0131ndan yapt\u0131r\u0131lan hayratlar vs. \u015fehrin ve etraf\u0131ndaki \u00e7\u00f6l\u00fcn tamam\u0131n\u0131 ku\u015fatm\u0131\u015f haldedir. Art\u0131k k\u00f6keni tamamen unutulmu\u015f ve ne i\u00e7in var oldu\u011fu bilinmeyen gelenekler, tamamen \u015fekilsel olan rit\u00fceller g\u00fcndelik hayat\u0131n da tamam\u0131n\u0131 ele ge\u00e7irmi\u015ftir. Esas\u0131nda Dios i\u00e7in krall\u0131ktaki herkes uslu ve s\u00f6z dinler \u00e7ocuklard\u0131r. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc sadece s\u00f6z dinleyen \u00e7ocuklarla Dios\u2019un kafas\u0131ndaki de\u011fi\u015fmez d\u00fczen s\u00fcrd\u00fcr\u00fclebilir. Dios\u2019u bildi\u011fimiz anlamda dindar saymak da pek m\u00fcmk\u00fcn de\u011fildir. Tanr\u0131lar\u0131n ve firavunun i\u015flerine kar\u0131\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 istemez. Onun i\u00e7in esas olan d\u00fczendir. D\u00fczen, oldu\u011fu gibi ve asla de\u011fi\u015fmeden devam etmelidir. Tanr\u0131lar, kutsal metinler ve firavun bu de\u011fi\u015fmezli\u011fi sa\u011flayan sembollerden ve enstr\u00fcmanlardan ibarettir. K\u0131sacas\u0131, mevcut iktidar\u0131 ilanihaye devam ettirmenin ara\u00e7lar\u0131d\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Denebilir ki sa\u011f, muhafazak\u00e2r siyasal anlay\u0131\u015f da de\u011fi\u015fimin \u00f6zellikle sert oldu\u011fu d\u00f6nemlerde \u0131srarla ayak direyen Djelibeybi Ba\u015frahibi Dios\u2019tan pek farkl\u0131 say\u0131lmaz. Hele ki T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de bunun semptomlar\u0131n\u0131 rahatl\u0131kla g\u00f6rebiliriz diye tahmin ediyorum. Devletin h\u00e2kim ideolojisi, toplumsal d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fcm\u00fcn hilaf\u0131na, insanlar\u0131n ayn\u0131 kalmas\u0131 hatta daha ge\u00e7mi\u015f on y\u0131llar\u0131n ve y\u00fczy\u0131llar\u0131n tamamen hayal edilmi\u015f k\u00fclt\u00fcrel iklimine d\u00f6nmesinde \u0131srarc\u0131 oldu\u011funda, ortaya (d\u0131\u015far\u0131dan bak\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131nda) olduk\u00e7a komik bir manzara ortaya \u00e7\u0131k\u0131yor. Hele ki s\u00f6z konusu muhafazak\u00e2r siyasal anlay\u0131\u015f devletin kendisini bir kontrol ve tahakk\u00fcm vas\u0131tas\u0131 olarak kulland\u0131\u011f\u0131nda ortaya \u201cebed\u00ee \u00e7ocuk\u201d diyebilece\u011fimiz bir insan tipi \u00e7\u0131k\u0131yor. (Tam da Dios\u2019un g\u00f6rmek isteyece\u011fi t\u00fcrden.) Ba\u011f\u0131ms\u0131z ve \u00f6zg\u00fcrce d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcp karar alarak kendi kanaatince ya\u015fayamayan, her zaman mu\u011flak ve k\u00f6keni belirsiz otoritelere biat eden, k\u0131sacas\u0131 yeti\u015fkin olamayan insanlar\u0131n \u00fclkesi. \u015e\u00fcphesiz \u201cebedi \u00e7ocuklardan\u201d olu\u015fan bir toplum daha \u00e7ok korkacak ve s\u00f6z dinler olacakt\u0131r. \u201cBir bildikleri vard\u0131r.\u201d \u201cDevlet b\u00fcy\u00fckleri b\u00f6yle dedi\u011fine g\u00f6re\u2026\u201d \u201cDevlet b\u00f6yle bir karar ald\u0131ysa mutlaka do\u011frudur\u2026\u201d (Amerikan toplumunda \u201cman-child\u201d t\u00fcr\u00fc sa\u011f politikac\u0131lar\u0131n ortaya \u00e7\u0131k\u0131\u015f\u0131 da tesad\u00fcfi de\u011fil.) Yeti\u015fkin olup karar vermenin ve bunun getirdi\u011fi sorumlulu\u011fun a\u011f\u0131rl\u0131\u011f\u0131ndan ka\u00e7an insanlar \u015f\u00fcphesiz vasilik vazifesini \u00fcstlenen devletin arzu etti\u011fi ki\u015filer olarak ortaya \u00e7\u0131k\u0131yorlar. Bu tabii yeni bir durum de\u011fil. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019deki siyasal k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fcn karakteristik \u00f6zelliklerinden birisi. B\u00f6yle bir k\u00fclt\u00fcr i\u00e7erisindeyse cumhuriyet idealinin gerektirdi\u011fi vatanda\u015flar\u0131 g\u00f6rebilmek olduk\u00e7a zor olacakt\u0131r. E\u015fit ve ba\u011f\u0131ms\u0131z fertler olarak, diyalog ve m\u00fczakereyle karar alarak kendi kaderlerini tayin eden ve ta Antik Yunan\u2019dan beri romantize edilen vatanda\u015fl\u0131k t\u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fc g\u00f6rmek bir hayal haline gelecektir. Bunun en k\u00f6t\u00fc sonucu, hi\u00e7 \u015f\u00fcphesiz, asla gerekti\u011fi kadar demokratik olamamam\u0131z. En olumsuz ko\u015fullar alt\u0131nda, en bunalt\u0131c\u0131 ekonomik kriz hallerinde dahi \u201cdevlet b\u00fcy\u00fcklerinin bir bildi\u011fi vard\u0131r\u201d diyerek bir vatanda\u015f olarak kendine d\u00fc\u015fen g\u00f6rev ve sorumlulu\u011fu g\u00f6rmezden gelen, s\u00f6z konusu sorumlulu\u011fu otorite ve kendinden \u00fcst\u00fcn sayd\u0131\u011f\u0131 ki\u015filere tahvil eden, kendi ba\u015f\u0131na bir h\u00fckme varamayan ki\u015filerin varl\u0131\u011f\u0131 demokratikle\u015fme s\u00fcre\u00e7lerine her zaman ket vuracakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burada sadece siyasal sistemimizde iktidar\u0131n, iktidar sahipleri taraf\u0131ndan k\u0131skan\u00e7\u00e7a ve t\u00fcm\u00fcyle anti-demokratik ve hatta hukukun \u00fcst\u00fcnl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc ilkesini ihlal edecek \u015fekillerde elde tutulmas\u0131ndan bahsetmiyorum. Ayn\u0131 zamanda kendimizden farkl\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnen ve ya\u015fayan insanlara kar\u015f\u0131 g\u00f6sterdi\u011fimiz tahamm\u00fcls\u00fczl\u00fck ve (beraberinde gelen g\u00fcvensizlik de) sebebiyle demokratik ve e\u015fitlik\u00e7i, m\u00fcreffeh bir toplum kurabilmekten \u00e7ok uza\u011f\u0131z. Kant, \u201cAyd\u0131nlanma nedir?\u201d sorusuna 18. y\u00fczy\u0131l sonlar\u0131nda \u015f\u00f6yle bir cevap veriyordu: \u201cAyd\u0131nlanma, ki\u015finin kendi hatas\u0131yla d\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc\u011f\u00fc yeti\u015fkin olamama halinden kurtulmas\u0131d\u0131r.\u201d Yeti\u015fkinlikse bir ki\u015finin kendi akl\u0131yla, kendi vicdani kanaatine g\u00f6re d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fcp hareket edebilmesidir. Ve \u00f6yle tahmin ediyorum ki, i\u00e7erisinde bulundu\u011fumuz daim\u00ee politik kriz atmosferinde, sadece siyasi fig\u00fcrleri tart\u0131\u015fmakla yetinmeyerek daim\u00ee \u00e7ocuklar olmaktan \u00e7\u0131kman\u0131n yollar\u0131n\u0131 da aramamam\u0131z gerekir kanaatindeyim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yine de t\u00fcm\u00fcyle umutsuz olmak da son derece sa\u00e7ma olacakt\u0131r. Pratchett\u2019in roman\u0131n\u0131n sonunda Djelibeybi Krall\u0131\u011f\u0131 dahi de\u011fi\u015fimi kabul etmek zorunda kal\u0131r ve bir kad\u0131n firavun t\u00fcm sistemi alt \u00fcst eder. En nihayetinde, de\u011fi\u015fim ka\u00e7\u0131n\u0131lmazd\u0131r.
