What is cooperative education?

Cooperative education is a model that combines university education and business life, thus aiming to raise individuals who have work experience as well as academic knowledge. Students participating in Cooperative education continue their education by working in a contracted company/institution in the second internship and the following fall semester (internship + 7th semester). During this period, students do not come to the university.

What are the registered courses in Cooperative education and how are they graded?

Students participating in Cooperative education register Summer Practice II, Graduation Project, 2 area elective courses and 2 non-area elective courses (6 courses in total). Course grades are calculated as a result of the reports given by the students during the co-education, the presentations they will make at the end of the semester, and the evaluations made by the company. In this process, students are monitored by a faculty member assigned by the department.

Which companies have Cooperative education agreements?

The list of companies/institutions that our department has contracted with can be accessed via this link.

What are the application requirements for Cooperative education?

Cooperative education is not compulsory, it is an optional program. You can refer to the Cooperative Education Directive for application and acceptance requirements.

When and where to apply for Cooperative education?

Cooperative education applications are made to the Career Planning and Cooperative Education Directorate at the beginning of the spring semester each year. It is important to follow the announcements to be made on the subject.

How to match students and companies?

The CVs of the students who apply are shared with the companies that will receive co-educational students. Companies conduct interviews with the students they designate. At the end of these interviews, the companies that the students will work with are determined by mutual preferences.

Course planning suggestions for students considering joining Cooperative education:

Students who plan to join in Co-operative education must complete the CMPE493 and CMPE399 courses before cooperative education in order to be able to participate in the co-education and take the CMPE494 and CMPE499 courses.

It is recommended to take the 7th semester course, TURK101, before the cooperative education period.

It is recommended that they do not take early two area elective courses and two non-area elective courses, which are 7th semester courses, and leave them to the cooperative education.

The area elective course taken during the Cooperative education period is not counted as a multidisciplinary area elective, and the non-area elective course is not counted as a non-area (entrepreneurship pool) elective course. It is recommended that these courses be taken before or after the Cooperative education semester.
