The Metal Forming Center of Excellence was founded in 2010 with the support of the Ministry of Development of Türkiye and the contributions of Atılım University. The MFCE was founded with the support of the Ministry of Development of the Republic of Türkiye, and the contributions by Atılım University. The Center aims to support the Turkish metal forming industry through applied research, develop innovative, knowledge-based manufacturing technologies, manufacture high value-added components and form new and advanced materials.

The center conducts research in close collaboration with the industry, and the academia. Since 2010, the Center has worked on a significant number of a national and international, small and medium-sized projects. The Center plays a key role in the dissemination of knowledge through its seminars, workshops, training courses and ongoing projects.

At our Center, we offer the hardware and software opportunities required for research in the field of metal forming. The rich infrastructure of the Center consists of forming presses, testing devices for material and micro-structure characterization and the software and hardware required for numerical analyses.

Areas of Operation of the Metal Forming Center of Excellence

  • Material Characterization for Simulation
  • Forming Light Materials
  • Die Design and Lifetime Improvement
  • Analytical Methods
  • Numerical Methods
  • Material Characterization Experiments
  • Systematic Experiments
  • Prototype Production
  • Pre-Mass Production

The Turkish Metal Industry is need of a research and development center which has the expertise to address the short, medium and long term problems of the industry in a way to maintain its competitive power and even increase it for the next two decades, to discover new markets and products and to be part of worldwide technological leadership. In this context, the fundamental aim of the Metal Forming Center of Excellence supported by the State Planning Agency is to develop academia-industry collaboration based on necessary research and development to:

  • Develop manufacturing technologies based on scientific knowledge
  • Fabricate products with a high added value
  • Use new and advanced materials in the manufacturing technologies
  • Increase productivity
  • Develop small and micron-sized products
  • Create fast product development procedures and enhance innovation capabilities.
  • Enhance innovation abilities

Launched with the support of the Atılım University Department of Manufacturing Engineering, our Center supports the researchers of the University in industry-partnered projects.

Mission and Vision

The primary mission of the Metal Forming Center of Excellence is successively to improve information-based manufacturing technology in our state, to produce items with high positive qualities, to make manufacturing using new and advanced material, to increase productivity, to develop micro-sized products,to generate products at a rapid pace and to make the necessary activities of research and development in direction of increasing innovation capacities thanks to the collaboration of academia and industry to be constructed in the body of an excellence center remarkable all around the world.

The vision of the Metal Forming Center of Excellence is to become a nationally and internationally accepted research and application center with its competent research staff, laboratories, and technical equipment and substructure.
