Asynchronous Education System
Learning Management System (LMS) – MOODLE
Atılım University uses the Moodle Learning Management System to make the content of online courses in the Distance and Formal Education accessible. Moodle is an open source software widely used throughout the world and distinguished from other LMSs thanks to its pedagogical specifications.
Atılım University utilizes the Moodle system through its own sources. Therefore, we do not outsource any services to operate Moodle. The Coordination Office of Distance Education has the technical and academic expertise required for Moodle. Our technical and academic staff provide necessary training to our academics.
Synchronous Education Systems
Zoom
Zoom is another piece of technology utilized for educational purposes in Distance Education by Atılım University.
Zoom allows 300 users to have classes and meetings simultaneously at once. Zoom courses are done through presentations, screen-sharing, and white board capabilities; with synchronous surveys, and an easier progression for numerical courses, with tablet support.
Students are able to join their courses live, and attendance is taken later.
Online/ Live courses presented over Zoom are recorded, and kept on our cloud storage for students wishing to review their courses.
In addition, our Hybrid Courses are recorded via Zoom, for our students to view by the end of the relevant semester.
Zoom is also used in our management meetings and student events.
MS Teams
MS Teams is utilized especially in our non-thesis Graduate Degree Programs in Business Administration in both English and Turkish, our Distance Education programs.
MS Teams supports synchronous training sessions and meetings of up to 250 participants.
MS Teams sessions are done through presentations, screen-sharing, and white board capabilities; with synchronous surveys, and an easier progression for numerical courses, with tablet support.
In addition, the chat, assignment and file sharing, and forum capabilities, as well as MS Forms boost course efficiency.
Students are able to join their courses live, and attendance is taken later.
Online/ Live courses presented over MS Teams are recorded, and kept on our cloud storage for students wishing to review their courses.
MS Teams is also used in terms of a common working direction in corporate operations.
Big Blue Button (BBB)
This open-source synchronous learning software has been further developed and enhanced, particularly since the pandemic.
Atılım University runs it on our own servers and resources for our Distance Education departments (e-MBA) courses, and provides technical support.
Courses are delivered via audio and video, using white boards, presentations, PDFs, and screen sharing, allowing our students to ask questions, take notes, and participate.
Plagiarism Control Software
Turnitin
Turnitin is a program that checks the similarity rate of students’ assignments, reports, and theses across billions of files, documents, articles, and websites worldwide.
Turnitin is the most widely used platform worldwide, and promotes academic integrity, simplifies grading, improves feedback, and deters plagiarism.
Students may check their work on Turnitin, view the similarity report, and download a digital receipt along with the authentic, plagiarism-checked file.
The program also performs artificial intelligence checks on 100-15,000-word English essays, tests, and assignments.
This software displays the similarity rate of the uploaded file, but it does not definitively determine plagiarism; it provides a potential plagiarism report.
Our students and academics check Turnitin assignments through MOODLE or at Turnitin.atilim.edu.tr.
İntihal.net
İntihal.net is a local software that promotes academic integrity, and performs similarity scans on over 90% of journals published in Türkiye, through the thesis center under the Higher Education Council, and many other similar publications.
The software displays results directly on the assignments, theses, and articles students upload to MOODLE.
