Chairperson’s Message

Dear Students,

Welcome to the Department of Automotive Engineering at Atılım University, where we prepare the next generation of engineers who will shape the future of mobility.

Automotive engineering extends far beyond vehicle design. It is a strategic discipline that advances transportation technologies, develops sustainable mobility solutions, and drives technological transformation across many industries. In addition to road vehicles, the design, development, and production of land vehicles used in agriculture, construction, and defense industries are also part of this field. Automation, system integration, safety, quality assurance, and environmental sustainability play critical roles in these processes.

At our department, we prepare students to understand emerging technologies, develop innovative solutions, and compete successfully in a global engineering environment. Our curriculum is built on strong scientific foundations and combines experimental studies, hands-on training, and modern computer-aided modeling and simulation techniques.

Engineering design and project-based learning form the core of our educational approach. From their first year, students engage in design-oriented learning and apply their knowledge through a comprehensive Senior Design Project. Our students have achieved notable success in international competitions such as Formula SAE and, more recently, in the TÜBİTAK TEKNOFEST Electric Vehicle competitions. They are also preparing for the autonomous vehicle competitions scheduled for 2026.

The automotive sector lies at the center of a broad economic ecosystem, offering diverse career opportunities in automotive, defense, manufacturing, and advanced technology industries. Our master’s and doctoral programs are conducted in close integration with the Mechanical Engineering graduate programs (https://www.atilim.edu.tr/en/makine-muhendisligi-ana-bilim-dali) at our university.

Together with our students, faculty members, and industry partners, we are building a dynamic academic ecosystem that advances mobility technologies and contributes to the engineering solutions of the future.
