Ankara Crocus (Crocus ancyrensis)

Definition : A yellow-flowered crocus species endemic to Türkiye. The epithet name is derived from Ancyra, meaning Ankara. It was first reported in Ankara and earned the name Crocus ancyrensis. It is a perennial herbaceous plant that blooms between February and April, seen at altitudes of 1000-1600 m. Since crocuses bloom at the end of winter, they are, in a sense, the harbingers of spring.
