Atılım University Opens Gateway to Next-Gen Education: VRinVET Virtual Reality Laboratory

With the project titled “Enhancing the Quality of VET Education and Training through Innovation with Virtual Reality (VRinVET)”, supported within the scope of the Erasmus+ Capacity Building Program in Professional Education (ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CB-VET), Atılım University opened the VRinVET Virtual Reality Laboratory (VRinVET) at the School of Engineering, with a ceremony.

The inauguration ceremony saw the attendance of Mrs. Zerlin Zaim, Assistant Chairperson of the Board of Trustees; our President Prof. Dr. Serkan Eryılmaz; Prof. Dr. Yılser Devrim, Dean of our School of Engineering; as well as our academic and administrative staff, and our students.

VRinVET is an innovative laboratory that serves not only as training grounds, but also as a learning ecosystem designed to train the engineers of the future, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. With the multi-dimensional and interactive experiences offered by the virtual reality (VR) technology, students now the opportunity to deepen their learning through practice as they learn theoretical information.

The VRinVET laboratory provides an opportunity to digitize and redesign the undergraduate and graduate degree program course content of Atılım University School of Engineering; and grants a unique education and research setting to allow for academic research based on virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) for, particularly, graduate and doctorate degree program students.

Today, virtual reality technologies are indispensable tools not only in gaming and entertainment; but also in strategic fields such as education, engineering, and the defense industry. In this context, Atılım University School of Engineering regards digitization as not only a mere preference, but instead, an element of responsibility.

With VRinVET, our university pushes the frontiers of education in engineering, and prepares our students for the jobs to come. We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Ali Yazıcı, Head of Department of Software Engineering; as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sacip Toker, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Kerem Ay.
