Our Department of Psychology had a great success in the Conference

The students of our Psychology Department will have 17 oral presentations in the 18th National Psychology Students Conference, organized by İzmir University of Economics that will be held between the 6th and 9th of July 2013. The total number of presentations is 60, therefore 28,3% of the speeches are to be presented by our students. 

The projects to be presented are:

  • 12 Correlation Studies of 2nd year students, that were studied in Research Methods in Psychology course under Dr. Kürşat Demirutku’s supervision. 
  • 5 Experimental Studies from Experimental Design Course Studies supervised by Dr. Aslı Bahar İnan.

The subject matters of the studies shall be summarized as follows: 

  1. The relationship between feeling of loneliness and Use of Facebook

 

The feeling of loneliness is increasing as long as the behaviours such as chatting, commenting, sharing videos and pictures and manifesting place increase.

 

  1. The relationship between tolerance to uncertainty and watching soap operas

As long as the individual’s inclination towards uncertain situations in life increases, they present behaviours such as preparing the channel before the programme starts, being unable to quitting to watch it, and watching it over and over again more frequently.

 

  1. The relationship between daydreaming and life satisfaction

Although it is not observed in female students, it is found out that the inclination towards daydreaming is increasing among male students as long as their satisfaction from life decreases.

 

  1. The Affect of Feedback on Success

It is found out that among the participants who get negative, positive or neutral feedback, the success rate of the ones who get negative feedback gets lower…

 

  1. The Affect of Background Music on Remembering

It is found out that claasic music affects remembering positively as the result of out tests.

  1. The Influence of Watching Movies in Different Languages on Attention  

It is found out that wathcing movies in foreign languages affects attention negatively. Silent movies do not have the same affect.
