Our Student Presented Capstone Research at the 5th International Conference on 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing (17-19.09.2026)
21.09.2026
Our recent graduate Sezin Selamoğlu presented the study entitled “Experimental Evaluation of TPMS-Filled Crash Boxes for Enhanced Energy Absorption in Automotive Applications” at the 5th International Conference on 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing, held on 17–19 September 2026 at Yıldız Technical University and the Istanbul Fair Center.
The study experimentally investigated additively manufactured crash boxes incorporating different Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) architectures with the aim of improving crashworthiness and energy absorption in automotive applications. Among the investigated designs, the Diamond TPMS configuration demonstrated the best overall performance, achieving considerably higher energy absorption compared with a conventional hollow crash box.
The presented research was developed from the AE431/AE432 Capstone Project carried out by Sezin Selamoğlu, Arda Ölmez, and Onur Kılıç, students of the Department of Automotive Engineering at Atılım University, under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Fallah.
We congratulate Sezin Selamoğlu on successfully presenting the team’s research at an international scientific conference and wish all members of the project team continued success in their academic and professional careers.
