Anesthesia is an indispensable part of ​​the health sector, since it is required in all surgical procedures, regardless of the scale. Anesthesia Technicians are health-care professionals who prepare all materials and patients before the operation, control the patient under anesthesia, maintain and terminate anesthesia, and support anesthesia specialists during the post-operative care phase. In this regard, anesthesia technicians are vital.

2. What are the qualifications required for aspiring Anesthesia Program students?

Anesthesia technicians should be individuals who prioritize patient rights and health, adhere to ethical rules, be patient, careful, meticulous, take responsibility and are compatible with teamwork.

3. What exam and score type is required for the Anesthesia Program?

The Anesthesia Program accepts candidates based on their Basic Proficiency Exam (TYT) score in the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS).

4. Where do Anesthesia Program students study and attend courses?

The theoretical and practical courses of the Anesthesia Program are presented at the Atılım University Ahlatlıbel Campus within the Vocational School of Health Services. Atılım University also collaborates with Medicana International Ankara Hospital.

5. What courses are included in the Anesthesia Program?

In addition to basic medical courses, Anesthesia Program students are offered an intensive training program that will help them improve in their fields, with practical courses unique to the anesthesia program.

6. What is the medium of instruction?

The Anesthesia Program provides formal education. The medium of instruction for all programs within the Vocational School of Health Services is Turkish.

7. What do Anesthesia Technicians do?

Anesthesia Technicians work in operating rooms, maternity hospitals, recovery rooms, resuscitation, pain treatment units and research departments in private and state institutions, and support anesthesia specialists.

8. What distinguishes the Atılım University Program in Anesthesia from the others?

Anesthesia Program students are prepared for their professional lives by our experienced teaching staff with the latest technology devices and equipment at the simulation laboratories at Atılım University Ahlatlıbel Campus. During the semester, students have the opportunity to develop their manual skills with the practice sessions at the hospital, allowing them to adapt to the work environment for the future.

9. What are the internship opportunities?

Our program students may take their compulsory internship courses at different hospitals and gain work experience through their compulsory internship studies.  In addition, Atılım University is in collaboration with Ankara Medicana International Hospital.

10. Where may graduates find employment?

Our students may find employment at operating rooms, maternity hospitals, recovery rooms, resuscitation, pain treatment units and research departments of state and private hospitals after graduation.

11. How would you describe the physical education setting of your program?

The Vocational School of Health Services is located independently at the Ahlatlıbel Campus. Our students are prepared for professional life by receiving education in our laboratory with latest technological devices and application models, suitable for student capacity. This laboratory is also where they attend one-on-one practice sessions.

12. What are your scholarship rates?

Our Anesthesia Program students may receive full, or 50% scholarships.

13. What Undergraduate Degree Departments Receive Students from the Anesthesia Program via the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS)?

Our graduate students may apply to be transferred to the departments (undergraduate degree programs) announced by ÖSYM via the vertical transfer exam. The undergraduate degree programs and departments that receive our program students based on their vertical transfer exam results are: Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Nursing, Nursing and Health Services.

15. May I double-major in the Anesthesia Program for a second diploma?

Students who meet the specified conditions and success scores in the Anesthesia Program are provided with the opportunity to get a second diploma with a Double Major Program.
