Department of Automotive Engineering – Four Capstone Projects Awarded TÜBİTAK 2209-A Support (06.05.2026)

Four of the five capstone projects conducted within the scope of the AE432 Capstone Project II course in the Spring Semester of 2025–2026 have been awarded support under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A Research Project Support Programme for Undergraduate Students, following the programme’s 2025 call. Conducted by the TÜBİTAK Science Fellowships and Grant Programme Directorate (BİDEB), the 2209-A programme aims to provide associate degree and undergraduate students with experience in research and project management. It covers the machinery and equipment, consumables, travel and service procurement costs required by student research projects, for a period of up to twelve months and a maximum of 12,000 TL per project. Each project team consists of a project executive and up to four project partners, working under the guidance of an academic advisor. Applications are assessed in two stages, a pre-review followed by scientific evaluation, and are scored on the scientific quality of the research proposal (35%), method (25%), project management (20%) and broad impact (20%). The supported projects are listed below:

  • SMA-Based Actuator for Automotive Applications. Project Members: Ramazan Hakan Köksal, Olgu Üstün, Adnan Emre Seyfelioğlu, Cem Aksoy. Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Fallah
  • Metamaterials for Automotive Application. Project Members: Arda Ölmez, İbrahim Onur Kılıç, Sezin Selamoğlu, Sadullah Öztürk. Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Fallah
  • Hydrogen Generation via Electrolysis for Clean Energy Applications. Project Members: Burak Çetin, Alicem Doğan, Alparslan İlhan, Ebenezer Simalenga, Doğa Toprak. Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Emin
  • Flexible Front Wing Design for Aerodynamic Applications. Project Members: Mustafa Emre Özkan, Görkem Ertaş, Yunus Emre Gökdemir, Buse Karagöz, Hilal Görkem Paylar. Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Emin
