The course begins with an introduction to science and research as the foundations of scholarly inquiry and covers academic writing conventions and the classification of research studies. Topics include identifying research problems, formulating research questions, conducting literature reviews, developing conceptual and theoretical frameworks, recognizing different research designs, conducting research in accordance with ethical principles and standards, sampling procedures, measurement processes, validity and reliability, data analysis methods, and the presentation of research findings. In addition, students use the SPSS statistical software package to test hypotheses using a prepared dataset. Overall, the course aims to familiarize students with the fundamental norms and principles of scientific research while providing hands-on experience in developing a research proposal and applying these principles throughout the research process.
