Course Objectives The aim of this course is; 1) To define the basic concepts of public health, 2) To understand the role of public health in the prevention of important diseases seen in society that affect public health, 3) To use a systematic approach in public health for the protection and development of individuals, family, and community health, and to gain knowledge and skills.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Defines concepts related to public health
  • Uses the professional functions in the stages of health protection and improvement in their practices.
  • Communicates and maintains good communication with individuals, families, and groups
  • Defines the health problems of the society with a systematic approach, and produces solutions.
  • Provides health promoting, protective, curative and rehabilitative care to individuals, families and the community.
Course Content Introduction to public health, concept of public health, disease and health, criteria determining the level of health, epidemiological research methods, demographic-population structure, health management, maternal health, family planning, health education, immunization, environmental health, occupational health.
