It is vital to provide emergency care and rescue support to patients and / or injured people before and while they are being taken to the hospital, to determine the condition of patients and / or injured people with appropriate communication skills, and to apply the correct medical intervention. In order to do all of these, well-trained first and emergency aid technicians (paramedics) are needed.

2. What are the qualifications required for aspiring First and Emergency Aid (FEA) Program students?

A good first and emergency aid technician should know the human body well, remain attentive and calm, be able to work in teams, stay collected and self-confident, and have a strict work discipline and work ethic.

 3. What exam and score type is required for the FEA Program?

The First and Emergency Aid Program admits students basing on their Basic Skills Test (TYT) results.

4.  Where do FEA Program students study and attend courses?

Theoretical and practical courses in the FEA Program are presented at Atılım University Ahlatlıbel Campus.

5. What courses are included in the FEA Program?

In addition to basic medical courses, our program students are offered an intensive training program with sessions at our state-of-the-art laboratory and simulation room to help them improve in their fields.

8. What are the responsibilities of a first and emergency medical aid technician?

  • Performing intravenous interventions,
  • Using accepted emergency medications and fluids until reaching the hospital,
  • Administering oxygen,
  • Performing endotracheal intubation,
  • Performing ECG recording and rhythm assessment, monitoring, defibrillation, cardioversion, applying electrical treatments such as setting up an external pacemaker,
  • Ensuring that the patient is ready for transport by performing trauma stabilization,
  • Ensuring that the patient is transported with appropriate transport techniques,
  • Performing wound closure and simple bleeding control,
  • Assisting in labor in case of emergency delivery,
  • Keeping the ambulance ready for use in terms of technical, medical equipment and materials,
  • Driving the ambulance where needed.

Graduates may find employment in emergency health service units of other institutions and organizations, especially health care institutions. Employment areas involve Emergency Services of public and private inpatient / non-inpatient health institutions and organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Health, 112 Emergency Stations, 112 Command Control Centers, Private Ambulance Services, etc.

14. What Undergraduate Degree Departments Receive Students from the First and Emergency Aid Program via the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS)?

With the DGS, they may transfer from the FEA Program to undergraduate degree programs of departments such as Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Nursing, or Nursing and Health Services.

15. May I double-major in the FEA Program for a second diploma?

Students who meet the specified conditions and success scores in the FEA Program are provided with the opportunity to get a second diploma with a Double Major Program.
