Building Acoustics Laboratory carries out research to:

  • Find solutions for all kinds of sound and noise problems, perform measurements for this purpose, and prepare projects, assessments and reports;
  • Measure sound absorption coefficient of building materials;
  • Prepare acoustic designs and projects for concert halls and similar buildings;
  • Make physical, scaled and computer-based modeling of historical buildings where sounds and acoustics are important;
  • Provide counseling services in acoustics;
  • Conduct studies on acoustic resonators to obtain patents, make acoustic designs accordingly;
  • Examine acoustic features of different religious buildings such as mosques, churches and synagogues, establish acoustics standards;
  • Establish partnerships for industrial projects such as producing insulation materials;
  • Train Atilim University students in the field;
  • Organize training programs in cooperation with the Directorate of Continuing Education;
  • Train experts in accordance to the standards of Ministry of Environment and Urbanization;
  • Participate in regulation drafting as well as “Acoustics Expert and Trainer” meetings as required for new construction projects;
  • Take part in international projects and publications to contribute to the promotion of the University.
