Atılım University Model United Nations Event Held Between January 21-23
13.02.2026
The Model United Nations (MUN) conference ATUMUN’26, a simulation-based, multifaceted conference where students discuss current global agendas and create a resolution based on the topics of discussion, was held for the first time at Atılım University, hosted by the Atılım English Translation and Interpretation Club (ATIC) in partnership with the Atılım International Relations Club.
Staged very similarly to actual United Nations conferences, the MUN conference has each student represent a country in their own committee, among multiple simulated committees, as is the case regarding the original UN committees. Model United Nations brings together students from various educational backgrounds, creating a platform for students to discuss current events, international relations, diplomacy, and so forth. In addition, MUN contributes to students' teamwork, public speaking skills, leadership skills, networking, and awareness of global issues.
Five committees were included in this conference, attended by high school and university students. These committees, and their areas, were as follows:
- UNWOMEN: Gender-based inequality in global health systems.
- IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change): IPCC Working Group 3: Mitigating the Impacts of Climate Change
- JCC (Joint Crisis Committee): Joint Crisis Committee: Ottoman Triumvirate
- ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council): Improving global supply chains to reduce exploitative labor practices
- SPECPOL (Special Committee on Political and Decolonization): Protection and management of cultural heritage
For their valuable contributions, we extend our gratitude to the delegates, the organizations and the academic teams who participated.
