General Information

The Cooperative Education Program (CO-OP) is an educational model that integrates university education with professional practice, aiming to provide students with work experience prior to graduation. Students who participate in the program spend approximately six months working at a partner company during their second summer internship and the following fall semester (summer practice and the 7th semester), continuing their education without attending classes on campus.

Courses and Grading

Within the scope of the CO-OP, students register for a total of five courses: Summer Practice II, Design Project, two area elective courses, and one general elective course. The final grades for these courses are determined based on students’ reports prepared in the CO-OP period, mid-term and final presentations, as well as evaluations provided by company supervisors.

Application Requirements

The CO-OP which is an optional program, and the application and participation requirements are specified in the Directive on Cooperative Education.

Application Period

Applications are submitted at the beginning of each spring semester to the Directorate of Career Planning and Cooperative Education. It is essential that students closely follow the announcements made during this period.

Company Placement

The CVs of applicants are shared with the companies that accept Co-Op students. These companies conduct interviews with selected candidates, and the final placements are determined through mutual preferences.

Course Adjustment Recommendations for Prospective Co-Op Students

  • It is recommended that the TURK401 course, which is offered in the 7th semester, be completed before the CO-OP period.
  • The non-technical elective course taken during the CO-OP period does not count toward the “Entrepreneurship Pool” electives. Therefore, it is recommended that this course be completed before or after the CO-OP period.
