Course Objectives The overall objective of the course, as a continuation of FRE201, FRE202, and FRE301, is to help students acquire the fundamental French language skills necessary to communicate at the A2* (Basic User) level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • LISTENING Understand everyday conversations and dialogues. (e.g., ordering in a restaurant, inviting someone, accepting or refusing a suggestion) Understand conversations about past events (using passé composé and imparfait). Recognize expressions of emotion (surprise, disappointment, hope). Identify key information from spoken recipes and instructions. Understand audio content that includes character descriptions and comparisons. Extract essential information from audio texts about introducing or renting a home.
  • SPEAKING Talk about themselves, including past experiences and memories. (e.g., discussing one’s background, recounting a memory) Make, accept, or refuse suggestions for activities. Express future plans and aspirations. Verbally convey emotions such as surprise, hope, and disappointment. Describe personality traits and physical appearance; characterize people. Order food in a restaurant and express satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Introduce a house or apartment and speak for rental purposes. Create short dialogues and engage in conversations about everyday situations.
  • WRITING Write about a past event or personal memory. Suggest an activity, invite a friend, or respond in writing. Write a short text about future plans. (Futur simple + conditional with “si”) Describe a person’s personality and physical characteristics in writing. Write a house description, rental advertisement, or explanatory text. Write a recipe or simplify and explain a given recipe. Express comparisons, emotions, conditions, and quantities in writing.
  • READING Understand short texts related to everyday life (advertisements, messages, recipes, dialogues). Correctly interpret texts written in past and future tenses. Read introductions or biographies and identify the main idea. Gather information from explanatory texts such as rental advertisements. Understand restaurant menus, recipes, or customer reviews. Analyze texts containing affirmative and negative structures. Follow texts enriched with pronouns, adjectives, and conditional structures.
Course Content More vocabulary, structure and communicative skills at elementary level; various themes such as travel, places, appearance, plans, health, weather, phone conversations, and cultural elements.
