| Course Objectives | The main aim of the course is to provide a general perspective on the concepts of citizenship and civil society. According to the neoliberal understanding, while "citizenship" is seen as a whole of relations between individuals and the state by being reduced to a political and legal bond, the concept of "civil society" is associated with independent forms of organization as a separate structure from the state. However, contrary to this mainstream approach, concepts can take different forms in different periods and contexts. For this reason, this course aims to examine both the concepts in question and their relations with each other with a critical eye. |
