What distinguishes our audiology department from those of other universities?
Founded in 2021, our Department of Audiology aims to attract qualified students by offering a modern infrastructure and a contemporary education and research environment. Our active and dynamic academic staff produce knowledge at a universal level and are committed to constant renewal and scientific research.
Our dynamic academic staff use interactive methods and maintain good communication with students within the framework of multifaceted programmes and up-to-date books and publications. This approach aims to help students gain the skills they need to integrate into society as successful individuals with high motivation and strong work ethic, the ability to take the initiative and lead, innovation, human values and a sense of responsibility, respect for human rights and freedoms, an open attitude to learning and a researcher spirit. Our versatile undergraduate programme provides specialisation in the field and offers a wide range of elective courses to support the professional, social and personal development of our students, as well as compulsory courses.
Students' professional development is supported by internships in various Audiology areas. In addition, thanks to our school's cooperation with Medicana Hospital, our students are offered not only internships, but also postgraduate employment, research and project partnership opportunities.
Scholarship holders have the opportunity to be involved in academic projects and exercises designed to develop academic writing skills from the first year onwards, enabling them to develop academically, follow current literature and contribute.
What is the physical education environment like in your department?
In our department, we have the physical conditions necessary for uninterrupted educational processes in this field. We have a laboratory equipped with the latest technology where our students can put their theoretical learning into practice as part of the curriculum. During their education period, our students will follow applied courses in these laboratories and have the opportunity to reinforce the subjects taught theoretically by practising. With lessons reinforced by practice, our students will be well-prepared for their future careers.
What is the standard of English education?
Two semesters of English preparatory education are provided before students start the department. Our departmental curriculum includes six semesters of compulsory Academic English courses to ensure that our students do not encounter any foreign language difficulties after graduation. Additionally, students who wish to learn a different language can take elective courses in languages such as German, French and Spanish, which are offered by our university.
Why choose Audiology Education in English?
Demand for audiologists with an academic background comes not only from Turkey, but also from abroad. In this respect, this programme will contribute greatly to increasing the number of audiologists equipped to follow discussions in the scientific world closely by providing an English-language education. The four-year English-language programme in our department gives our students the ability to engage with this dynamic literature. Alongside the core subjects, our students learn audiological terminology and gain the skills needed to participate in international scientific activities, publications and studies in this field. The fact that our department is taught entirely in English facilitates participation in student exchange programmes, enabling students to assimilate the education they receive abroad more easily. It also greatly contributes to the success of our students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies abroad by helping them to pass the language exams required for admission.
What job opportunities are there?
Graduates of our department can work in a variety of fields, such as state and university hospitals, neonatal units (newborn hearing screening), private hospital clinics, balance centres, private audiology centres, hearing aid sales and application centres, industrial institutions and special education centres.
