The Department of Architecture at Atılım University was the first Department of Architecture established at a foundation university in Ankara. Since welcoming its first students in 2008, the Department has combined a strong educational tradition with an innovative vision for the future of architecture. In 2016, it became the first architecture school among foundation universities in Ankara to undergo external evaluation by applying for accreditation through the Turkish Association for Accrediting Architectural Education (MİAK). The Department received its initial accreditation in 2020 and successfully renewed it with a three-year accreditation in 2023.

To ensure a high-quality learning environment, our Department intentionally maintains a balanced, medium-sized student intake. At the heart of our educational philosophy is the commitment to helping every student discover and develop their own unique design language. We adopt a hybrid educational model, integrating traditional architectural education and digital design tools from the very first semester, while placing increasing emphasis on advanced digital technologies throughout the later years of the curriculum. In addition, students engage in a wide range of activities that strengthen their connection with the city and everyday life, enabling them to explore architecture from diverse perspectives.

Recognizing that architectural education is founded on inquiry, critical thinking, and creativity, we believe that learning in one's native language provides the strongest foundation for comprehension, discussion, and self-expression. At the same time, we actively encourage our students to strengthen their foreign language proficiency and interdisciplinary competencies, equipping them with the skills needed to compete and collaborate in a global professional environment.

Our mission is to educate knowledgeable, socially responsible, and creative architects who understand that designing buildings also means shaping the way people live. To achieve this, we provide an architectural education that places community engagement, contemporary challenges, and technological innovation at its core.
