Frequently Asked Questions
- What happens if I exceed the absenteeism limit?
When you exceed the absenteeism limit, you fail the course, and you have to take the course, again, in the next semester.
- How can I find out my record of absence?
You have to keep record of your hours of absence. However, the instructor might announce the count only once at a time determined by the administration during the semester.
- Can I take a make-up exam if fail to attend it on the scheduled hour?
Students who are absent due to health problems and cannot take the exam are entitled to take a make-up exam on a specified day and time, if they bring a medical report approved by their departments in accordance with the regulations of our university.
- What can I do if I have conflicting courses?
Since attendance is essential for the courses offered by the Department of Modern Languages, papers for conflict are not accepted. But the students can attend the other course within their absenteeism limit. However, if the student fails due to absenteeism, the Department of Modern Languages will not take responsibility for any problems which may arise because of the conflict.
- How can I find out if the courses I take have prerequisite courses?
You can find this information in the Course Memos and the Bologna Documents on our website.
- If I have a medical report, will I be absent from the course I did not attend?
Medical reports do not reduce your total hours of absence; they only entitle you to make-up exams/assessments, for those you have missed due to your illness.
- I transferred from another university. Is it possible for me to have the English courses I took at my previous university counted towards credits for Atılım University Department of Modern Languages courses?
Yes, these courses can be counted towards credits as long as the Department of Modern Languages considers them to be equivalent to the courses offered. During the process, you must submit all your documents and transcripts to your main department to be sent to the Modern Languages Department.
- How can I contact the instructor of the course?
You can reach the instructor via e-mail or phone calls by the number you find at the "Academic Staff" section on our website.
