School of Foreign Languages Department of Modern Languages works diligently to increase the quality and capacity in every aspect. Measurement and evaluation, which is a concrete indicator of educational processes, is used to increase the quality and effectiveness of education and training services and processes. It is important for us to effectively measure and evaluate the results of language education and teaching, the scope of which is increasing in our department, and to use it for teaching purposes. The Exam Preparation Unit is planned to carry out the studies of all measurement and evaluation services - planning, implementation evaluation, reporting and making recommendations. The Exam Preparation Unit aims to prepare exams with high validity and reliability. The unit carries out these studies under the relevant Deputy Head of the DML. The Exam Preparation Unit consists of a unit head and a sufficient number of members elected by the DML Department head. Exam Preparation Unit carries out the following tasks:

  • conducts exam preparation, examination and application works,
  • plans the preparation of the examination charts and contents with the group leaders,
  • performs the necessary follow-up and control procedures during the exam,
  • edits the exams prepared by the group heads and gives feedback,
  • takes active part in the printing (packaging, addressing) and publishing (Moodle) of the exams,
  • takes an active role in the face-to-face and online administration of the exams,
  • ensures the use of standard and equitable methods (standardization meetings, double reading, selective reading, group reading, etc.) in evaluation,
  • conducts the announcement of the exam results and the objection processes,
  • analyzes items according to the exam results,
  • suggests editing and changes in exams based on item analysis,
  • maintains and protects confidentiality and reliability in all works.
