Course Objectives This course aims to provide an understanding of the historical evolution, intellectual foundations, and various theoretical approaches to the concept of democracy. The goal is for students to develop the ability to analyze democratic models in terms of their normative and institutional dimensions.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • It explains the different types of democratic models and their historical and theoretical foundations.
  • It analyzes the relationship between different models of democracy and today’s political systems.
Course Content Classical democracy; republicanism; liberal democracy; elitism; pluralism; deliberative democracy; confrontational democracy.
