Course Objectives The aim of this course is to reveal what are the main issues on which recent debates in political philosophy have focused, and to link these debates both with each other and with older and even ancient debates in political philosophy.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Be able to analyze the current political debates of Turkey and world politics from a conceptual point of view.
  • Understand the philosophical-intellectual backgrounds behind the concepts we frequently use in daily life, such as justice, democracy, power, subject, structure.
  • Recognize important thinkers who shape contemporary political thought.
Course Content The concept of freedom; the concept of equality; political power; violence; revolution; transformation; genocide; democracy; civil society.
