Course Objectives The objective of this course is to introduce the basic concepts of pre-calculus, such as sets, numbers, intervals, absolute value, exponential and radical expressions, equations, inequalities, graphical representation of equations and inequalities, equations of line and quadratic curves in the plane, systems of linear equations and their solutions, matrices and determinants. Also, it is aimed to develop the problem solving and analytic thinking skills of the student and to increase their ability to apply problems to real life.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Understand the fundamentals of pre-calculus
  • Solve linear and quadratic equations and inequalities
  • Recognize and sketch the graphs of lines and conics in the plane
  • Recognize and solve systems of linear equations
  • Understand the concepts of matrices and determinants
Course Content Sets, numbers, intervals, absolute value, exponential and radicals, equations and inequalities, polynomials, coordinate system in the plane, equations of line and conics in the plane and their graphs, systems of linear equations, matrices and determinants.
