Course Objectives | The course deals with the Ottoman legacy, the construction of the Republic, and the political, social and economic changes experienced by the Turkish Republic in a historical pattern. The main political characteristics of Turkey, which have existed since its establishment and have evolved over time, are examined. Turkey's political structure; social classes, strata, ethnic groups, the relations between the military and civil bureaucracy are taken into consideration. Students are expected to develop a analytical perspective on Turkey's major political issues, events, institutions and processes. The aim of the course is to provide the basic information necessary to analyze the political life in Turkey. It is aimed to produce scientific approaches about the current situation by examining Turkey's recent past. |
