Course Objectives To provide students with the opportunity to learn the social and cultural foundations of the field of History and Theory of Architecture through developments in the World and in Turkey, to create a perspective that will allow them to see architecture not only with its tectonics but also as a whole culture, to create a general perspective of the literature, and to acquire the ability of architectural aesthetic perception and critical thinking.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • With the awareness of lifelong learning, he/she acquires historical and cultural learning skills related to the basic knowledge in his/her field.
Course Content Appraisal of architectural history in terms of the social, political, and cultural contexts of the architectural development in the world and in Turkey; discussions of architectural history and theories in relation with architectural historiography.
