Students may, upon request and provided that they meet the required conditions, be granted a leave of absence within the maximum period of study specified in Law No. 2547. This leave may be granted for a maximum of two semesters in associate degree programs (including the preparatory year), and for bachelor's degree programs, up to four semesters in total, with a maximum of two semesters at a time.

For graduate students, provided that their excuse is approved by the relevant Graduate Executive Board (EYK), Registration Freeze may be granted for up to two semesters for master's students and up to four semesters for doctoral students.

  • The approved leave period is not counted toward the student's maximum period of study.

  • Students on leave may not attend classes or take examinations during the leave period.

Applications for leave of absence must be submitted within the periods specified in the Academic Calendar.

Applications are accepted only online through the Student Information System (UNACS).
