Course Objectives To acquire the basic knowledge of the normative structure of public international law. To focus on international treaties, certain international court decisions and major state behaviors in order to understand the manifestation of law in international relations.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • To study the impact of international law and legal rethoric on the members of international society, international organizations, individuals and communities. To analyze the role of law from an international relations perspective.
  • To understand the process of legal argumentation and how legal arguments are turned into political and diplomatic rethoric. To comprehend the legal legitimacy process in diplomatic mindset.
Course Content Major international treaties, certain court decisions, theories of international law and international relations and the history of public international law; the role of law on the state-to-state (international) level.
