Course Objectives The main objective of this course is to provide students with knowledge of the nature, importance, and role of inventory management and warehousing within international supply chain and logistics systems. Warehousing provides time and space benefits for raw materials, industrial products, and finished goods, while also offering companies a value-added competitive advantage through customer service. Similarly, the goal of inventory management is simply to meet customer demands. Therefore, fundamental warehousing, inventory decision-making, operational issues, and the reasons for holding inventory will be covered in this course.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Ability to explain the basic principles of warehousing, its nature, and its role within the logistics system.
  • To be able to evaluate the objectives and effectiveness of material handling processes.
  • Ability to analyze the role of packaging and barcode systems in logistics processes.
  • Ability to evaluate global warehousing strategies and their relationship with international logistics.
  • Ability to analyze the objectives and performance criteria of inventory management.
  • Ability to analyze inventory cost relationships and basic inventory models.
  • Ability to apply and interpret economic order quantity (EOQ/EQOM) models.
  • Ability to analyze storage and distribution activities.
