Course Objectives This course gains knowledge of basic concepts, rules, principles of nursing care, materials and sources; skills and competences of reaching to scientific and current knowledge, of assessing the accuracy, validity and reliability of the knowledge, of applying first aid with holistic and systematic approach by using hypothetic, evidence-based and practical knowledge, of evaluating the effects of first aid, of proper behaving by respecting human rights and honor, and regulations, professional worth and ethical rules related to first aid and disaster nursing.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
Course Content Disaster and the classification of disasters, disasters in the world and Turkey,disaster nursing and duties of nurses in disasters, disaster management, assessment of site and patient/injury,disaster triage, removal of injuries from the accident environment and transportation,basic life support,medical emergencies and first aid, effects of disasters on health,chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear materials and nursing practices,community preparedness for disasters,hospital disaster plans
