Course Objectives To teach the scientific foundations and application principles of therapeutic exercise methods used in the rehabilitation of orthopedic and sports injuries; to develop the ability to plan and implement range of motion, flexibility, muscle strength, neuromuscular control, proprioception, and plyometric exercises in accordance with the tissue healing process; and to acquire the competence to create, develop, and evaluate region- and sport-specific evidence-based rehabilitation programs and ensure a safe return to sport.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explains the basic concepts of therapeutic exercise, the principles of tissue healing, and the principles of exercise prescription.
  • It plans and individualizes evidence-based therapeutic exercise programs specific to orthopedic and sports injuries, targeting the upper extremities, lower extremities, and spine.
  • Develops specific progressive exercise strategies for biomechanical disorders in accordance with motor learning principles.
  • It evaluates rehabilitation outcomes using safe return-to-sport criteria and functional performance tests.
  • Discusses the clinical effects of neuromuscular control, proprioception, and plyometric exercises in orthopedic cases in light of current literature.
Course Content In the fields of physical therapy and rehabilitation, effective training strategies, appropriate exercise program, basic assessment and measurement methods, and problem solving and exercise program within the framework of motor learning principles.
