Course Objectives Identifying and understanding the development, transformation and variation of architecture, and intercultural, social, economic and technologic interactions and differences from Anatolian Seljuk Period to the beginning of 20th century
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Recognizes architectural works belonging to various civilizations in the course of history.
  • Gains ability to critically compare the development of architectural and artistic works in the course of history and the process of their emergence.
  • Distinguishes the period to which the works belong and its features.
  • Learns the terminology of the history of architecture.
  • Establishes connections between historical and socio-economical conditions and architecture.
  • Comprehends construction principles, material usage and technology of the old ages.
  • Gains ability to understand the origins of the present socio-cultural structure.
Course Content Phases of architectural history from the beginning of 15th century until mid-19th century; reflection of changes in social structure on architecture; examples from European architecture after the 1789 French Revolution; developments in the World and Turkey; Central Asia , Seljuk and Beylik Era Architecture, Ottoman Architecture.
