Course Objectives To produce raster based images on computer and present these images in an orderly fashion in printed medium.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • How to use Adobe Photoshop effectively and professionally
  • Rendering techniques on computer to express plans and furnishings by taking architectural drawings as basis
  • Painting orthographic and perspective views with digital watercolor on computer.
  • Composing 2-D and raster-based architectural project visuals and all other data in computer environment, converting them into digital images in layouts and taking their prints.
Course Content Production of 2-D architectural presentation material using the Adobe-Photoshop program.

Weekly Subjects and Releated Preparation Studies

Week Subjects Preparation
1 Introduction, general concepts, definitions and rules, introduction of programs and documents to be used.
2 Overview of the Photoshop with layouts, plan and view paintings created in digital media. Introduction of Photoshop interface and basic monitor controls.
3 Introduction of raster concept Basic actions, starting a work, creating and resizing an image file, understanding the concept of resolution, saving the work.
4 Selection, painting and use of other toolbox elements.
5 Enhancing use of toolbox elements with examples.
6 Introduction of menus and menu tools; using “Adjustment” menu and panel tools; and editing pictures with examples; working with “Layer” organization.
7 Composing texts, tools for refinement, processes of visual betterment and order, explanation of filtering issues with examples.
8 Transferring the plans created on AutoCAD to Photoshop for plan painting.
9 Adding furnishing elements to plan painting and preparing for presentation in sheet form.
10 MIDTERM
11 Preparing, saving and printing presentations with different content. Introduction of saving format.
12 Introduction to digital watercolor with orthographic view painting with the example of “Section-Elevation” example.
13 Explanation of the use of the vectoral tools found in Photoshop with example of “Analysis Sheet” .
14 Techniques of painting perspective drawings; and the end of the term review
