Newton’s cradle (balls) is named after Sir Isaac Newton. The device consists of a series of identically sized metal spheresthat barely touch each other when at rest. If a ball from one end is pulled away and is released, it strikes the next ball in the series. Almost instantly, the ball on the opposite end of the series swings almost as high as the realese height of the first ball. This shows that the final ball receives most of the energy and momentum that was in the first ball.

The Picture in the cover page shows a solenoid (red body) and the magnetic field lines generated (blue-green lines). A solenoid is a long, thin loop of wire that produces uniform, controlled magnetic field. The strenght of the field is proportional to the electric current passing through the wire. So the more the current, the stronger the magnetic field is. The core of a solenoid is often filled with an iron bar to strengthen the field even further.

The demand for application for lightweight materials such as Ultra/Advanced High Strength Steels (U/AHSS), aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys and boron steels in automotive industry is increasing to reduce vehicle weight and increase crash performance. The use of these relatively new materials requires advanced and reliable techniques to a) obtain data on material properties and flow stress, b) predicting springback and fracture in bending and flanging, c) selecting lubricants and die materials/coatings for stamping and forging and d) designing tools for blanking and shearing

In addition, designing the process and tooling for a) hot stamping of boron steels, b) warm forming of Al and Mg alloys, and c) optimizing the use of servo-drive presses require advanced Finite Element based simulation methods. CPF is conducting R&D in most of these topics and also in many hot and cold forging related topics. This paper gives an overview of this research and discusses how the research results are applied in cooperation with industry.

This laboratory manual will be used by freshman chemistry courses in Atılım Universtiy at Faculty of Engineering. The choice of experiments and the methods of their presentation are intended to aid in the achievement of the following definite purpose in the laboratory program:

Newton’s cradle (balls) is named after Sir Isaac Newton. The device consists of a series of identically sized metal spheresthat barely touch each other when at rest. If a ball from one end is pulled away and is released, it strikes the next ball in the series. Almost instantly, the ball on the opposite end of the series swings almost as high as the realese height of the first ball. This shows that the final ball receives most of the energy and momentum that was in the first ball.

The Picture in the cover page shows a solenoid (red body) and the magnetic field lines generated (blue-green lines). A solenoid is a long, thin loop of wire that produces uniform, controlled magnetic field. The strenght of the field is proportional to the electric current passing through the wire. So the more the current, the stronger the magnetic field is. The core of a solenoid is often filled with an iron bar to strengthen the field even further.

The demand for application for lightweight materials such as Ultra/Advanced High Strength Steels (U/AHSS), aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys and boron steels in automotive industry is increasing to reduce vehicle weight and increase crash performance. The use of these relatively new materials requires advanced and reliable techniques to a) obtain data on material properties and flow stress, b) predicting springback and fracture in bending and flanging, c) selecting lubricants and die materials/coatings for stamping and forging and d) designing tools for blanking and shearing

In addition, designing the process and tooling for a) hot stamping of boron steels, b) warm forming of Al and Mg alloys, and c) optimizing the use of servo-drive presses require advanced Finite Element based simulation methods. CPF is conducting R&D in most of these topics and also in many hot and cold forging related topics. This paper gives an overview of this research and discusses how the research results are applied in cooperation with industry.

Bu dökümanın üniversitelerin ilgili bölüm ve sınıflarındaki öğrenciler için bir başvuru kitabı oluşturması arzu edildiği gibi konuyla öğrenim yıllarından sonra ilgilenmeye başlayan teknik adamların toplu bilgilenme ihtiyacını giderecek bir kaynak olması da istenmiştir. Yazar, bu iki beklentiyi birden tatmin edecek biçimde en son teknik-bilimsel gelişmelerin fazla ayrıntısına girmeksizin ancak okuyucuyu en taze oluşumlardan haberdar edecek bir çerçeve oluşturmayı amaçlamıştır. This laboratory manual will be used by freshman chemistry courses in Atılım Universtiy at Faculty of Engineering. The choice of experiments and the methods of their presentation are intended to aid in the achievement of the following definite purpose in the laboratory program:

  • presentation of certain chemical principles in the form of concrete examples 
  • illustration of the methods of an experimental science
  • development of skills in laboratory techniques
  • training in scientific observation and the systematic recording of these data
  • appreciation of precision, accuracy, and error in scientific measurement; and
  • training in the derivation of conclusions from experimental observations, and development of both confidence and skepticism concerning these observations. 

Briefly, the experiments were selected to show some ways in which a chemist obtains information by the experiment, and then uses the data collected to draw conclusions about properties and behavior of matter. Most of the experiments begin with introduction sections, giving background information need to bridge the gap between lecture presantation of the topics and laboratory studies.

Bu kitap, özellikle, endüstri mühendisliği bölümlerinde okutulacak ergonomi dersleri için ders kitabı olarak kullanılmak üzere hazırlanmıştır. Bununla birlikte, makine, inşaat, bilgisayar, maden, tekstil, gıda ve elektrik-elektronik mühendisliği bölümlerinde okutulacak ergonomi dersleri içinde bir ders ya da referans kitabı olarak önerilebilir. Gerek Türkiye'de, gerekse ABD, İngiltere ve Almanya gibi gelişmiş Batı ülkelerinde ergonomi konusunda gerçekleştirilen önemli çalışmalar baz alınarak hazırlanan kitap beş ana bölümden oluşmaktadır.
Birinci bölümde, ergonomi ve ergonomi ile ilgili bilim dalları tanıtılmış, ergonominin tarihi gelişimi, insan-makine sistemleri ve ergonomi açısından sistem türleri hakkında kısa bilgiler verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde, insan vücudu ile ilgili olarak, hareket sistemi, sinir sistemi, insanların enerji gereksinimi ile çalışma süreleri, dinlenme araları ve beslenme gibi konular üzerinde durulmuştur. Üçüncü bölümde, antropometrik ölçüler, ölçüm yüntemleri ve ölçü aletleri tanıtılarak antropometrik verilerin tasarım amaçları için nasıl kullanılacağı tartışılmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde, özellikle göstergelere, kontrollere ve gösterge-kontrol arası ilişkilere yönelik olmak üzere, insan-makine sistemleri ele alınmıştır. PHYS 101 Experiment 5: Momentum and Kinetic Energy in Elastic and Inelastic Collisions

Newton’s cradle (balls) is named after Sir Isaac Newton. The device consists of a series of identically sized metal spheresthat barely touch each other when at rest. If a ball from one end is pulled away and is released, it strikes the next ball in the series. Almost instantly, the ball on the opposite end of the series swings almost as high as the realese height of the first ball. This shows that the final ball receives most of the energy and momentum that was in the first ball.

The Picture in the cover page shows a solenoid (red body) and the magnetic field lines generated (blue-green lines). A solenoid is a long, thin loop of wire that produces uniform, controlled magnetic field. The strenght of the field is proportional to the electric current passing through the wire. So the more the current, the stronger the magnetic field is. The core of a solenoid is often filled with an iron bar to strengthen the field even further.

The demand for application for lightweight materials such as Ultra/Advanced High Strength Steels (U/AHSS), aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys and boron steels in automotive industry is increasing to reduce vehicle weight and increase crash performance. The use of these relatively new materials requires advanced and reliable techniques to a) obtain data on material properties and flow stress, b) predicting springback and fracture in bending and flanging, c) selecting lubricants and die materials/coatings for stamping and forging and d) designing tools for blanking and shearing

In addition, designing the process and tooling for a) hot stamping of boron steels, b) warm forming of Al and Mg alloys, and c) optimizing the use of servo-drive presses require advanced Finite Element based simulation methods. CPF is conducting R&D in most of these topics and also in many hot and cold forging related topics. This paper gives an overview of this research and discusses how the research results are applied in cooperation with industry.

This laboratory manual will be used by freshman chemistry courses in Atılım Universtiy at Faculty of Engineering. The choice of experiments and the methods of their presentation are intended to aid in the achievement of the following definite purpose in the laboratory program:

  • presentation of certain chemical principles in the form of concrete examples 
  • illustration of the methods of an experimental science
  • development of skills in laboratory techniques
  • training in scientific observation and the systematic recording of these data
  • appreciation of precision, accuracy, and error in scientific measurement; and
  • training in the derivation of conclusions from experimental observations, and development of both confidence and skepticism concerning these observations. 

Briefly, the experiments were selected to show some ways in which a chemist obtains information by the experiment, and then uses the data collected to draw conclusions about properties and behavior of matter. Most of the experiments begin with introduction sections, giving background information need to bridge the gap between lecture presantation of the topics and laboratory studies.
