Computer engineering is a field which deals with design, development and maintenance of software and hardware components of computer systems.
The Computer Engineering Department was established in 1998 and is currently the largest department in Engineering Faculty of Atilim University in terms of the number of students and faculty members. Our faculty members have high credentials from well recognized national and international institutions. The Department closely follows recent teaching methodologies and laboratory techniques because of being committed to excellence in teaching, research, and community services. In this regard, we intend to develop a unique relationship with our students and seek to create a beneficial environment so that they become qualified individuals who are capable of generating effective solutions and providing new direction by using engineering approaches in the field of computers. The department's faculty members are also active in scientific research, consultancies and community services.
Our undergraduate program is well prepared and periodically modified at the international standards to meet the needs of workplaces after graduation. It is designed to help students gain insight into the important issues of building and maintaining computer systems in laboratory environments. The courses offered aim to teach students the technical knowledge as well as teamwork, communication and leadership skills, and the ability to acquire new knowledge on their own. In this regard, our undergraduate students are encouraged to conduct research through project-oriented courses under the supervision of the faculty members to gain experience prior to their graduation.
The Department also has an MS program with "with" and "without thesis" options. Most of the courses of MS program are designed to meet the requirements of the industry and furnish the students with the most recent advances in the technology. The students who do not hold a Computer Engineering degree or who are not experienced in the fundamentals of the discipline are required to take deficiency courses in some of the areas of Computer Engineering. Most of the graduates of MS program are working in the field of information and communication technologies in various organizations from both private and public sectors. Some of the graduates of this programs continue their careers with PhD programs at either Atilim University or other institutions.
