Course Objectives This course aims at introducing a variety of inferential statistics applied in psychological research.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Understand the logic of statistics as it is applied in psychological research
  • Identify the distinction between descriptive and inferential statistics
  • Gain knowledge in topics such as hypothesis testing, statistical decision making, Type I and Type II errors, parametric hypothesis tests (univariate and bivariate), ANOVA, correlation, and nonparametric tests (e.g., chi-square GOF and test of independence, Spearman correlation)
  • Learn how to conduct hypothesis testing
  • Evaluate the results of hypothesis testing
Course Content Inferential statistics, hypothesis testing process, statistical decision making, univariate and bivariate parametric tests, analysis of variance, correlation, and selected nonparametric tests.
