Course Objectives The main objectives of this course are to make each student be able to produce their own short or medium footage documentary films by informing about the purpose and the preparation. Meanwhile, they will be capable of analyzing the cinema films by regarding the traditional and contemporary documentary films on behalf of presenting projects about documentary types.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • 1- Evaluates historical and current information objectively by gaining the ability to research and define,
  • 2- Knows the use of tools and materials in the technical sense, prepares and presents his/her thoughts through images,
  • 3- Knows and applies video editing programs in computer environment,
  • 4- Gains skills and experience on moving image and gains a critical perspective.
Course Content Documentary and documentary film; the historical development of concepts related to the subject, the aims and features of documentary films; documentary film presentation.

1 A- Course description, B- Defining the concepts of documentary and documentary film, C- Introduction to documentary filmmaking.
2 A- Historical development of documentary film, B- The purpose and characteristics of documentary film, C- Presentation on documentary film types and explanation of the documentary film project to the students, D- Defining the types of documentary films and determining the topics of presentation projects related to the subject.
3 A- Determining the subjects of documentary film projects, B- Examination of documentary film production: Functions of producer and director, visuality, sound, voice-over and music in documentary film.
4 A- Examination of research drafts of documentary film projects, B- Introduction to film production techniques: Script writing, storyboard making and application phase, C- Introduction to film production techniques in computer environment: Adobe Premier Pro program.
5 A- Finalization of research drafts of documentary film projects, B- Examination of the script drafts of documentary film projects, C- Film production techniques: Camera use, lighting techniques, examination of exterior shooting environments, D- Adobe Premier Pro program training.
