Course Objectives The aim of this course is to enable the student to learn basic theories and concepts related to leadership and leadership process, to understand leadership role in nursing and to gain leadership skills.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explains the concept of leadership and theories about leadership.
  • Knows the forces that affect leadership in nursing.
  • Evaluates the leadership styles of people.
  • Knows the competencies of nurses in the leadership leadership process.
  • Explains how nurses' competencies can be developed in leading the leadership process.
  • Strives to develop his/her leadership as a student.
  • Defines how nurse leaders can shape their health policies.
Course Content Leadership concept, leadership theories and styles, forces influencing leadership, competencies of nurses in leadership process, lifelong learning and professional development, expectations from nurse leaders, coaching nurse leaders, the importance of student leadership, leadership in politics and excellence.
