Course Objectives The aim of this course is to enable the students to have theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Surgical Nursing, to use the nursing process with a holistic and systematic approach, to apply nursing care, to carry out training and counseling roles, to collaborate with the health team and to think critically.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explain current theoretical and practical knowledge specific to the field of surgical diseases nursing.
  • Give nursing care with a holistic and systematic approach by using theoretical, evidence-based and practical knowledge in the field of surgical diseases nursing, evaluate the effect of the care given and record it.
  • Respect human rights and dignity in nursing practice.
  • Acts in accordance with legislation, professional values and ethical principles.
  • Uses critical thinking skills and a scientific problem-solving approach.
Course Content Definition of the surgeon and its effects on the patient, perioperative care, wound healing, fluid-electrolyte balance in surgery, homeostasis, shock, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, aseptic methods, control of hospital infections, surgical diseases of the body systems and nursing care, orthopedics, transplantation, breast diseases, ear-nose-throat, eye diseases and nursing care, burn and nursing care, surgery pain and nursing care.
