Course Objectives This course aims to learn the effects of hearing loss on developmental domains, to compare different amplification systems used in children and adults, and to learn individualized rehabilitation strategies and programs.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explain the characteristics of hearing loss.
  • Explain the effect of certain degrees and configurations of loss on language acquisition.
  • Explain the impact of loss of certain degrees and configurations on academic skills.
  • Compare the amplification tools used in children and adults.
  • Compare the assistive listening tools used with children.
  • Describe the environments in which assistive listening devices are used effectively.
  • Know rehabilitation strategies in case of hearing loss in different groups.
Course Content Facial reading, auditory training, effective use of hearing aids/orientation, effective use/orientation of cochlear implants, and effective use of assistive listening devices, effects of hearing loss in children and meeting needs.
