Course Objectives The aim of this course is to gain introductory knowledge and skills in audiologic applications.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Knows the preparations to be made before audiological examination, can perform daily listening and calibration control
  • Perform physical and otoscopic examination and diapason tests. Prepare the test plan according to the result.
  • Know how pure tone threshold tests are performed and can perform tests themselves
  • Knows and can apply speech tests.
  • Know and perform differential diagnostic tests used in routine practice and interpret the results.
  • Knows the situations in which a masking should be used. Can perform masked threshold and speech tests
  • Understand the differences in audiogram configuration in conductive and sensorineural hearing loss
  • Can write audiologic evaluation result report, knows how to transfer these results to the patient
Course Content Hands-on work in department laboratories: practical implementation of the evaluation process, interview, history taking, otoscopic examination, and the phase of reaching a preliminary diagnosis with tuning fork tests; daily listening control, simulation of behavior tests used in audiological examination and student applications; discussing and reporting the results.
