Course Objectives The aim of this course is to give students an overall view of English Literature, which will be studied in detail for four years. The course enables the students to place literary figures, genres, attitudes, and stages of literary developments in their historical and cultural perspective. The course covers the period from the beginning to the end of the 17th century.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Develop an overall view of English Literature covering the periods from the beginning to the end of the 17th century in English Literature
  • Gain knowledge on sample texts produced in these periods
  • Gain knowledge on selected authors who produced in these periods
Course Content Old English Period background; Middle English Period background; 16th century background; sonnet tradition; 17th century background; John Milton.
