Course Objectives Being the first course in translation, this course aims to develop students’ translation skills through translation of various texts from English to Turkish. The primary purpose is to raise language awareness. A comparative study of the source and the target languages, particularly from a grammatical perspective, is the essential practice throughout the course. Complex sentence structures are analyzed and compared on a contextual basis.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • have internalized grammatical rules on the basis of translation,
  • are able to translate complex sentence structures and long texts from English to Turkish.
  • in addition to the fact that in the course of translation one should have a good command of both target and source language, students have gained an awareness that they should be knowledgeable about the culture of both languages as well.
Course Content Translation of various texts from English to Turkish; a comparative study of the source and the target languages, particularly from a grammatical perspective, complex sentence structures, their comparison on a contextual basis.
