Internationalization Policy

The concept of “internationalization” is defined in the Great Turkish Dictionary by the Turkish Language Association as “a phenomenon known since the age of colonial empires and the geographical spread of economic activities beyond country borders”. However, internationalization is a phenomenon that should be addressed not only in economic terms but also with an interdisciplinary approach, in a comprehensive and integrated framework.

With globalization, the world is witnessing fierce competition in every field. One of these areas is the field of Higher Education. With the internationalization of Higher Education institutions, which represent the last and highest stage of the education system, countries aim to become richer and stronger in many sectors, directly or indirectly, and establish new connections. From this point of view, Atılım University prioritizes principles such as contributing to the national economy, ensuring cultural diversity, and contributing positively to the country's reputation when determining its internationalization strategy. Based on this policy, Atılım University has chosen “internationalization” as one of the 5 strategic priority areas within the scope of our Strategic Plan.

With the awareness regarding what to expect through internationalization for the University in particular, and for the country in general, Atılım University approaches its internationalization strategy comprehensively and from multiple perspectives. Atılım University determines its internationalization policy with the awareness that internationalization is a policy that goes far beyond admitting international students. In addition to international students; student mobility, academic mobility, establishment of cooperative academic programs, partnership principles in research and development are among those to constitute basis in our internationalization strategy.

The units responsible for internationalization at Atılım University are the Vice President Responsible for Research, and the Directorate of International Relations. The International Student Resources Office and the Exchange and International Mobility Office within the Directorate of International Relations are the units that implement these internationalization policies. In addition, there is an International Cooperation and Strategy Determination Committee in Atılım University for the purpose of determining and implementing policies within the framework of the internationalization policy.

The most important result of information and communication technologies in the global world of the 21st century is undoubtedly the restructuring of time and space. With our internationalization policy, Atılım University prioritizes facilitating cross-border education, digitalization, student and school mobility; and having our graduates acquire international qualifications.

Research Through International Collaboration

The collaborations of the University with many others in the studies executed, the number of international researchers and international projects where our academicians take part, take the research function of Atılım University to an international dimension.  The academic incentive system that motivates quality research directs Atılım University academicians to achieve productivity through international collaborations.

Internationalization in Education

With international students from 65 different countries, we prepare our students for not only Türkiye, but also wherever else in the world they may wish to go following their graduation.  Thanks to the opportunities offered by the accreditations and certificates in many of our programs, the students who graduate from the relevant departments leave Atılım University with their internationally recognized diplomas. The language of instruction is English in most programs, allowing students to study with a global and up-to-date curriculum. It also aims to provide its members with access to universal knowledge by using up-to-date technology platforms in distance education. Employing many international academics, Atılım University provides students with the opportunity to receive education from academics with different experiences.
