ECTS - - Political Science and Public Administration (Ph. D.)

In order to qualify for the PhD degree in Political Science and Public Administration, students must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Successfully complete at least 8 courses (including 3 compulsory and 5 elective courses) within a maximum of 4 semesters, obtaining a minimum grade of CB in each credit-base course.

    • Compulsory courses:

      • KAM600 Seminar (non-credit)

      • KAM602 Political Theory

      • KAM603 Turkish Politics

  2. Successfully pass the Doctoral Qualifying Examination (KAM690).

  3. Successfully complete the Thesis Proposal course (KAM697).

  4. Successfully complete the PhD Dissertation course (KAM699) by writing and defending a doctoral dissertation before a jury.

The duration of the Ph.D. program is a maximum of eight (8) semesters, excluding any period spent in the scientific preparation stage. The maximum completion period is twelve (12) semesters, starting from the semester of initial enrollment.

The maximum period to successfully complete all credit courses is two (2) years. Students who fail to complete the required compulsory and elective courses within this period or who fail to achieve the minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.00, as stipulated by the University, will be dismissed from the program.

A student who has successfully completed the credit courses, passed the qualifying examination, and whose dissertation proposal has been accepted, but fails to complete and defend the Ph.D. dissertation by the end of the twelfth (12th) semester, will also be dismissed from the program.

Note: Examinations, assessments, and grading are conducted in accordance with the Graduate Education and Examination Regulations of the Graduate School of Social Sciences at Atılım University.
